Overview

“Education completes a man" - Late Sri Dayananda Sagar Dayananda Sagar University is a leading private university of Karnataka catering to the educational needs of society in the field of engineering, management and medical sciences. Dr. Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education and Research has now been established with a state-of-the-art Medical College Library keeping in mind the needs of the medical students and a futuristic curriculum as designed by the National Medical Commission of India. Dr. Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education & Research (CDSIMER) Library is accessible to all undergraduates & faculty members. This library consists of skilled, professional staff members who are always available for assistance. It is maintained well and regularly enriches its collection in order to allow users full access to current research tools and technologies. It has a large collection of books, CD’s and DVD’s apart from the latest journals with access to online resources through the Digital Library.

Library working hours

Monday to Friday: 7.00 AM to 10.00 PM
Saturday’s: 7.00 AM to 8.00 PM
Sunday’s: 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM
Reading Room: Will be kept opened 24/7 throughout the year.

Library Area & Seating Capacity

Library is fully air-conditioned. It offers several services in support of academic and research work. Located at the ‘G’ Block 5th floor with an area of 2500 Sq. mtrs with a seating capacity of 350, the entire library is connected through LAN & Wi-Fi.


Membership

Students and Faculty Members are eligible to become members of the library. Without membership, no books or journals can be borrowed. Prescribed membership forms are made available in the library.

Rules and Regulations

  • Entry to the library will be through Flap Barrier Access Control. Show your face while entering inside the library. While going out swing your hand on the device.
  • Deposit you all belongings in the property counter provided in the main entrance of the library. Do not keep any valuable items in the bags.
  • The library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of personal belongings.
  • Smart Card/Library Borrower’s Card are compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • Care should be taken on the library Borrower’s Cards. Do not fold, alter entries made on the cards. Members are responsible for the Borrower’s Cards issued to them. The loss of Library card should be reported to the in charge librarian/Chief Librarian immediately. A duplicate card will be issued against formal application and penalty. Library cards are valid for the entire duration of the course to access the library facilities.
  • Personal books are not allowed inside the library.
  • Loss or damage to library material by the user should be reported immediately. The user must pay the cost of replacing a lost or seriously damaged book / Journals etc.
  • All users leaving the library must show all books, folders, papers, etc. in their possession at the entrance counter to ensure nothing from the library is being taken out. Users may also be required to open for inspection any receptacle carried out of the library.
  • All books/journals and other library material are to be used with care. No user shall deface the library books by underlining or scribbling notes in the margins, etc.
  • Books, journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading are to be left on the tables after use and ‘not’ returned to the shelves.
  • The library is meant for individual study. Engaging in conversation/group discussion inside the library is prohibited. Strict silence and discipline must be maintained in the library.
  • Chairs and tables and other library equipment, fittings and furniture may not be marked, defaced, disarranged. Library decorum must be maintained.
  • Mobile phones are to be kept in silent mode inside the library.
  • Computers are for meant for educational purpose only, the use of internet in the library is for academic surfing only. Accessing unauthorized sites, playing games, etc. are strictly prohibited.
  • Library users should not change the settings of the computers provided in the Digital Library.
  • Private Study Rooms can be used on first come first serve basis. Do not miss use the facility of private study rooms.
  • To use AV auditorium reservation is compulsory.
  • The library is under CCTV surveillance.
 

Library at a Glance

CDSIMER Central Library Learning Centre is functioning with a vision to serve the information needs of the academic community. It mainly holds books related to Medical Sciences. The library has acquired more than 3500 volumes on different subjects in Medical Sciences. The library also has a rich collection of atlases, dictionaries, technical reports, special reading material including CET entrance books. It subscribes to more than 27 medical journals and popular magazines for the users. CDSIMER Central Library provides information and intellectual requirements to its community in a user-friendly approach. It offers a fully integrated and dynamic environment for conducting academic study. It provides Internet facility, LAN and Wi-Fi for seamless access to information. Multiple copies of textbooks ensure that resources are easily available in the collection. It lends the books and journals to the UGs and staff. The library is using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) for Classification of documents and AACR-II modified for Catalogue system to locate the reading materials. Digital Library has been established in the networked environment having 40 systems to access the e-Journals, e-Books, Audio-Videos and other educational material required for the clientele. The library is computerized using library software, students and staff can access the facility through it.

CDSIMER Central Library conducts orientation sessions for the UGs, staff and researchers on various library resources and research tools, besides organizing presentations by several e-resource providers / platforms.
